Prima stampa italiana, vinile doppio, copertina apribile lucida all'esterno ed all'interno e con barcode, con una delle inner contenente note in lingua italiana sulla raccolta e sui singoli brani, label nera e argento, catalogo NL04351(2), data sul trail off 4/10/82. Pubblicata nel 1982 dalla RCA (uscita negli USA con il titolo di ''60 years of country music''), la compilation dedicata alla musica country attraverso ventiquattro brani editi, incisi per la label RCA fra il 1922 ed il 1980: una carrellata storica di nomi che hanno fatto la storia del country ed affini, anche se mancano alcuni nomi fondamentali (a partire da un certo Hank Williams Sr.), cominciando da Jimmie Rodgers e la Carter Family per arrivare agli Alabama, passando da Bill Monroe, Hank Snow, Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton e Waylon Jennings; una vasta panoramica introduttiva su di un genere di enorme importanza per la musica popolare del '900 e non solo americana, vista la sua influenza sulla musica rock. Prima stampa USA, copertina cartonata con lunghe note musicologiche sul retro a cura di Norm Cohen, label porpora scuro con "deep groove", scritte bianche lungo il bordo in basso ed argentate al centro, logo RCA Victor bianco con cane e grammofono in alto, catalogo LPV-552. Pubblicata nel 1968 dalla RCA Victor Vintage Series negli USA, questa bella antologia compila sedici storiche incisioni di musica country folk "old timey" risalenti agli anni '20 e '30 del XX secolo (tranne i due brani finali, registrati negli anni '40). Un lavoro dimenticato dai più, ma non da un ascoltatore e musicista attento come Eugene Chadbourne, che ha evidenziato l'alta qualità complessiva delle incisioni e le fenomenali performances di gruppi country folk prebellici come Bill Helms & His Upson County Band e Kelly Harrell & The Virginia String Band, l'indimenticabile interpretazione di "Bring me a leaf from the sea" di Doc Walsh alla voce ed al banjo. Ascoltiamo molti brani dell'area culturale appalachiana, ma anche altre tradizioni country folk statunitense ricevono attenzione, come il cajun di Leo Solieau. Una piccola miniera di jug band music, danze sfrenate di origini anglo-celtiche (portate in Nord America dagli immigrati britannici ed irlandesi), virtuosi di violino, banjo e steel guitar.
