Bella ristampa del 2019, con copertina per l' occasione apribile, corredata di booklet di 22 pagine con testi, e di download code. Pubblicato nel 1966 dalla Elektra negli USA e dalla Bounty in Gran Bretagna, questo storico album contiene registrazioni effettuate da Bruce Jackson della Harvard's Society nelle carceri di stato del Texas durante i primi anni '60, che documentano canti blues, spirituals, canzoni di lavoro, eseguiti senza strumenti ma solo con le voci dei carcerati (spesso in coro). Il disco presenta molti bluesmen mai prima registrati, quali Johnny Jackson, Marshall Phillips, Joseph ''Chinaman'' Johnson, Johnnie Robinson, George White, Louis Houston, Houston Page, W.D. Alexander, Virgil Asbury.
